About SIU
What's a Saluki?
It's a dog, right? Yeah, but at SIU it's so much more. It's a mindset. Once a Saluki, always a Saluki.
Research at SIU

Ranked among the top 5 percent of all U.S. higher education institutions for research, our students are making an impact in Southern Illinois and around the globe.
Point of Pride
Students participating in the annual summer field school with the Center for Archaeological Investigations spent the summer of 2021 excavating at Fort Kaskaskia. The students learned how to use drones and ground penetrating radar in archaeology and discovered an intact cellar that would have been beneath a long-dismantled building.
