You can contract online before you arrive. See below for links to SIU On-Campus Housing:
Sometimes the residence halls do not allow students to move in until AFTER the start of orientation. In this case you will need temporary accommodations.
Off-Campus Housing
Students who are eligible to live off campus are welcome to search the local community for housing. Do NOT sign a contract with an off campus source before you arrive in Carbondale and physically see the apartment.
Temporary Accommodations
If you cannot move directly into your apartment or on-campus room when you arrive in Carbondale then you will need to arrange temporary housing. Sometimes the university housing office does not allow students to move in until after orientation. Since you must attend orientation, you will need to book a hotel.
The City of Carbondale offers many hotel and lodging options.
