Southern Illinois University -Paralegal Studies
Raise the bar on your career with a Paralegal degree.
A degree in Paralegal Studies prepares you for a career in the legal profession, and offers excellent preparation for those who want to go on to law school. In fact, many of our courses are the same courses a law student takes in the first year of law school.
Our students are drawn to Paralegal Studies because this major opens doors to fulfilling careers. You’ll be able to find employment after graduation, and you’ll be able to remain employed in the legal profession for the rest of your working life, no matter where you end up living.
We’re confident about your future success because we have the history to back it. We were the first school in Illinois to offer a bachelor’s degree in Paralegal Studies. We are an American Bar Association-approved paralegal education program. And all our faculty members are licensed attorneys.

“SIU truly is the place to be if you’re looking to grow, not just academically, but as a person who contributes to the community and consequently to the world.”

The Organization of Paralegal Students
The Organization of Paralegal Students brings in speakers who are connected to legal professions. Speakers may include representatives from SIU.
Each year, OPS visits some of the larger law firms in the St. Louis area, the federal penitentiary in Marion, juvenile justice centers, circuit clerk offices, and other sites.
OPS is entirely student-run and provides a supportive network of future colleagues.
