Faculty & Staff Representation

  • Faculty Senate

    The Faculty Senate represents SIU faculty in shaping university policies, protecting academic freedom, and supporting faculty welfare. It plays a key role in shared governance, with members elected from both tenure/tenure-track and non-tenure-track faculty.

  • AP Staff Council

    The Administrative and Professional Staff Council represents SIU’s administrative and professional staff, voicing their perspectives on university governance to the chancellor, president, and Board of Trustees.

  • Civil Service Council

    The Civil Service Council represents SIU Carbondale’s civil service employees, advising the chancellor and supporting staff through elected membership from all four campus sectors.

  • Asian Faculty And Staff Council

    The Asian Faculty and Staff Council represents Asian Americans, Asians, Pacific Islanders, their descendants, and allies, fostering a positive community and promoting recognition of their contributions and historical context within the university.

  • Black Staff and Faculty Council

    The Black Faculty and Staff Council (BSFC) fosters a positive community, advances shared interests and identity, and promotes recognition of the role and historical context of persons of African/Black descent within the university.

  • Hispanic/Latino Staff and Faculty Council

    The Hispanic/Latino Staff and Faculty Council serves as a representative voice for Hispanic, Latino, and Indigenous individuals and allies, promoting community, equity, and institutional improvement through advocacy, mentoring, and engagement.

  • Graduate Council

    The Graduate Council represents SIU’s graduate faculty and students, guiding policies on graduate education, research, and academic standards while advising the administration on matters affecting graduate programs.
