Applying to SIU

To be considered for admission, a student must submit the following (see the Freshman Application Checklist for more details):

  • A completed application for admission
  • A $40 non-refundable application fee
  • Current, official transcripts from each high school and college attended

After Your Student is Accepted

Congratulations, you’re part of the Saluki family! You have taken the steps to get here, and now, we have just a few more important things to do.

  • New Student Orientation

    New Student Orientation (NSO) is a one-day program for new SIU students and their families. NSO will fill you in on all of the details of getting your student ready for college life.

  • University Housing

    It's important that your student act as early as possible. University Housing will assist in your students transition to their new home at SIU.

Get Ready for the Fall Semester

Dawg Days is a four-day, three-night retreat for new students giving them an opportunity to have fun, make friends and learn more about life at SIU!

Keeping in Touch

  • Saluki Family Association

    Stay informed about upcoming events for families. The Saluki Family Association is free and and allows you to stay connected to SIU throughout the year.

  • Join the family mailing list

    The family mailing list offers tips on how to help your student, reminders of important dates and financial information, as well as SIU news and accomplishments.

  • SIU Mobile Alert

    In the case of an emergency, SIU Mobile Alert sends information directly to your phone via text message.
