Accountants and auditors help businesses and organizations maintain accurate financial records that are in compliance with laws and regulations, including tax laws. They may also identify areas where businesses are losing money and suggest ways to improve profits.
At SIU, you’ll learn accurate financial record keeping, of course. Our program also emphasizes business ethics, data security, inventory models and specialized tax laws. You can even learn about fraud detection and forensic accounting – using financial records to detect crime.

Bachelor's Program
Learn the basics of accounting concepts, and branch out into areas such as financial, taxation, auditing, and managerial. You’ll learn to prepare, analyze, and communicate accounting information.
When you graduate, you’ll be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing in a business setting. You’ll understand how to apply your accounting knowledge to unstructured problems. And you’ll know how to work effectively in a team environment as well as in a computer-based environment.
