The Jackson County Health Department is the official agency tracking and reporting COVID-19 cases in the county where SIU Carbondale is based. Following are active COVID-19 cases affiliated with SIU Carbondale faculty, staff and students confirmed by the county. Cases where individuals are in isolation are considered to be active. The university will post data weekly.
Information is reported based on place of residence. Students numbers are broken out by whether they live on or off campus. Faculty and staff live off campus. A positive case does not necessarily indicate that the individual has exposed others on campus. Contact tracing of individuals who have been in contact with positive cases is conducted by the Jackson County Health Department with support from the university. Individuals who have been exposed will be notified personally and given instructions by representatives of the health department.
These numbers may not be all-inclusive. Employees and students live in multiple counties that have varying reporting processes, and reporting of affiliation with the university is voluntary.
Visit the Jackson County Health Department for information about cases in the county and what to do if you might have been exposed. Visit the Illinois Department of Public Health for information about total cases statewide and to search for cases by zip code.
